POP: A Visual History

Pop culture connects generations. This large-format visual journey through 100 years of iconic people, objects, fashion, music, design, and everyday life brings each decade to life in richly detailed illustrated panoramas. Every chapter is created by a different illustrator, giving each era its own distinctive visual identity. Thoughtfully curated feature spreads reveal the stories behind the images, inviting readers of all ages to discover, compare, and return again and again.

Dr. Annekathrin Kohout is a cultural scientist and freelance author. She is the co-editor of the book series Digitale Bildkulturen (Wagenbach) and the magazine "POP." As a non-fiction author, she writes about internet culture, nerds, and K-Pop. In addition to teaching at various universities, she is active in international boards, including the Goethe-Institut and AICA. Pop: A Visual History is her first Children's Book.

Yayo Kawamura was born in South Germany in 1967, grew up in Tokyo, and has lived in Berlin since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. She studied communication design and has been working as a freelance illustrator and designer in her studio in Kreuzberg since 2001. Yayo Kawamura has designed numerous picture books and developed series for the youngest readers.
