Through the Glass with Suzanne Saroff

The Photographer Takes a Look from a New Perspective

Through the Glass with Suzanne Saroff

visual culture

The refractions of light through glass acted as an inspiration for Suzanne Saroff, a photographer from Montana who is now based in New York City. With half-filled tumblers and other translucent objects placed in front of and around her subjects in this series of still-life photographs, the bent rays flipped and reversed that which was behind. The effect is stunning: The continuity of a line is traced through the distortions and colorful shadows, but Saroff’s new perspective breaths life into each photograph.
