Exploring the Surreal
02/2018 visual culture
Istanbul-based creative Sakir Yildirim pairs a taste for color with a sense of the surreal in his photography. In some images, he merges moving elements from a number of photographs to create a single, solid, and transitory body made from the body of many; in others, he warps and distorts fragments of a single image to create a digital collage. Clean slices, interrupted lines, and pastiches of textures offer a graphically compelling and narratively disruptive take on the classic art form.
